Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a registration fee to join the Competitive Athlete Program?

CA Program members must be enrolled in the ATA National Leadership program. If you have not been registered prior to enrolling the one time fee is $150. If you have already been registered in the ATA National Leadership or Legacy programs there is no additional enrollment fee.

Is there an additional monthly fee to participate in the CA Program.

Yes, the program fee is $25 per month in addition to your regular monthly membership fee.

What equipment will I need to participate?

Students will need to purchase an ATA Leadership uniform with Red White Blue collar and have all required black safety equipment with ATA Logo. Torn, damaged, or outgrown equipment may not be worn in tournament competition. Students over 5 feet tall must have adult weapons.

Are there any other additional fees?

In addition to ATA and LMA fees each tournament has a competitor registration fee based on how many events a student participates in. Many also have a small spectator entry fee.

Where are the tournaments located?

Yes. Since martial arts is a year round activity, we have had many successful Black Belts participate in other seasonal activities while training, however, we will still recommend 2 classes per week for individual growth and belt promotion. We offer private lessons for those extra busy seasons where it may be hard to make it to regular class.

Can I earn trophies or medles?

Belt Promotions are given when students complete their attendance requirement and master the material for that rank, typically every 2-3 months.

How does the ATA champion program work?

While Black Belt isn't the only goal, it typically takes students 7 and older about 3-4 years depending on how often they attend classes, test for rank, and learn their curriculum. Students 3-6 will take approximately 1-4 years longer depending on their age and ability to learn the required curriculum.
