April is Autism Awareness Month. Throughout the month of April, we will be highlighting local events and sharing articles we find that help raise awareness of autism.

West Windsor’s Police Department has created a registry for members of the community who are autistic or those who have a communication disability. The purpose of this registry is to allow police officers to have access to critical information about that registered person if they are in an emergency situation. It will give officers access to the person’s

  • Detailed physical descriptions
  • Photo
  • Medical concerns
  • Best ways to communicate
  • Known stressors
  • Stress reducers

The information provided is confidential with the WWPD and will only be used by law enforcement in an emergency situation. This information will assist the West Windsor Police Officers with communicating and dealing with an emergency situation.
